A two-day professional development workshop with internationally renowned therapist and trainer, Maude Le Roux, OTR/L, SIPT, tailored for therapists, educators and child-development professionals who want deeper clinical reasoning and more practical ways to support children.

10 and 11 November 2026

11 hours, 30 minutes contact time

Intermediate level

Presented by Maude Le Roux, OTR/L, SIPT

Learn from one of the field’s most respected international voices in whole-child intervention

Maude Le Roux has helped hundreds of therapists and multidisciplinary teams think more deeply about development, sensory integration, primitive movement patterns, trauma, attachment and play.

In this two-day workshop, you will explore how primitive motor patterns and sensory systems overlap, how they influence function and participation, and how to apply this thinking in real paediatric intervention.

It is not about adding another rigid model to your work. It is about seeing the child more clearly.

You see the signs of a “sensory” child

Their sensory profile is completed, strategies are in place, the team is on board. And yet the child is not meeting their occupational performance goals. Their handwriting skills remain delayed, emotional regulation is inconsistent, and participation in daily activities appear to have reached a plateau.

You’ve done the sensory processing assessment. You’ve addressed modulation. You’ve worked on praxis, postural control, bilateral coordination. But something in the neurodevelopmental picture isn’t adding up.

What if the gap isn’tt in your approach but in a developmental layer that sits beneath it?

Primitive reflex integration sits at the foundation of sensory processing, postural tone, motor planning and emotional regulation. When those early movement patterns are not fully integrated, they resurface as the compensatory, avoidant, or dysregulated behaviours we see in clinic every day. The child who startles easily, collapses in low tone, struggles with midline crossing, or shuts down under sensory load may be showing you exactly that.

This workshop gives you a structured clinical framework to assess where those patterns are active, understand how they intersect with the sensory systems you already work with, and design intervention that targets the developmental root instead of the presenting behaviour.

If you’ve ever left a session thinking there’s more to this child’s picture, Maude’s two- day intensive is where your clinical questions gets answered.

Who Should Attend

Designed for professionals who work with children

This training course is suitable for all allied health professionals and teaching staff working with children or adults who struggle with learning. It will be of interest to: Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Educators, Social Workers, Behaviour Therapists, Music Therapists, Arts Therapists, Paediatric Physiotherapists, Educators, Early Intervention/ Disability Workers, Classroom Assistants and parents.

You don’t need a certification in sensory integration or reflex integration to attend. Simply come with an open mind and a willingness to add new thinking to your clinical toolkit. Even if you’ve attended Maude’s courses before — there is new material and fresh critical thinking woven throughout.

Why This Workshop Matters

When development, behaviour and sensory needs do not fit neatly into one box

Children rarely present with one simple challenge.

There may be sensory sensitivities, retained reflex patterns, motor planning difficulties, emotional dysregulation, learning concerns, trauma histories or behaviours that are hard to read.

Maude’s workshop helps you bring these pieces together with stronger clinical reasoning.

Across the two days, you will explore sensory integration, primitive reflexes, development, emotional experience and play-based intervention in a way that feels practical, thoughtful and immediately useful. The workshop includes theory, but its focus is strongly on practical application, including assessment protocol practice, lab experience and recorded intervention examples.

Why Learn This From Maude Le Roux?

Because experience changes the way complex ideas are taught

Maude Le Roux has spent two decades at the intersection of sensory integration and reflex integration — and in this workshop, she brings both frameworks together under one practical, evidence-informed roof.

This isn’t a theoretical overview. You’ll leave with a hands-on assessment protocol you’ve already practised, intervention strategies you can apply in your next session, and a new lens for understanding your most complex paediatric clients.

Whether you’re an OT, physio, speech pathologist, psychologist, or educator — if you work with children whose development doesn’t follow the expected path, this workshop was made for you.

What You Will Take Away

You will learn how to:

  1. Apply critical analysis of developmental profiles through use of a 4-point scoring system in assessment.
  2. Compare 10 points of overlap in development considering sensory integration and reflex integration.
  3. Design intervention goals and strategies applied using play and playfulness increasing intrinsic motivation to participate in new and novel activities.
  4. Review scientific literature in sensory modulation, sensory discrimination as well as reflex integration to support the evidence base for therapy.
  5. Describe the impact of emotional experiences and / or trauma on sensory experiences and integration of reflexes.
