Tilegne Therapy is pleased to be offering the Hanen More Than Words parent training course from October to December 2024, for parents of children with Autism (ASD) or children with social communication support needs.
Build your confidence and skills in turning every day interactions into valuable opportunities to develop your child’s communication skills and gain support from a supportive group of parents with similar experiences. This 8-session program will run on Mondays afternoons, with three individual video-feedback sessions scheduled throughout the program.
1 pre-program consultation and orientation session will be held prior to the start of the program. The individual video feedback sessions will be scheduled individually according to clinician and family availability.

This Hanen More Than Words program will be offered in-person on our office premises to empower you with strategies to enhance your child’s communication skills. If you wish to join an online parent program please let us know via the registration link and we will place you for our future online course. Parents and main carers of children with Autism aged 0 to 6, or children with recognised social communication support needs. One parent is required to attend all parts of the program to ensure consistency. A second parent/ grandparent/ carer who regularly looks after your child are able to, and encouraged to attend any sessions they would like, alongside the main carer.
Parents and main carers of Autistic children aged 0 to 5, or children with recognised social communication support needs. One parent is required to attend all parts of the program (orientation, pre-program consultation, 8 group sessions, 3 individual video-feedback sessions) to ensure consistency. A second or even third parent, grandparent, or carer who regularly looks after your child are able to, and encouraged to attend any sessions they would like, alongside the main carer.
– A deeper understanding of your child’s stage of communication development and the next steps you can take to help them grow
– Practical strategies that you can use to support your child’s interaction and language development in every day routines
– Ways to help your child understand what you are saying
– How to help your child pay attention longer
– How to have more fun and join in with your child, and include their sensory preferences
– Inclusion in a group of parents on a similar pathway to your own
– Hanen More Than Words parent guidebook
– A program pack with handouts and resources to support your completion of the program
– Over 27 hours of direct therapy time with a Hanen Certified speech pathologist
Your child will need to be in the care of another person while you are attending the group sessions so that you can fully participate and get the most benefit from the program.
Individual video-feedback sessions are best completed with your child present, if possible, so that the speech pathologist can observe an interaction and discuss Hanen strategies with you in-the-moment.
We are happy to accept NDIA, self-managed and plan-managed participants to join the Hanen More Than Words course.
